Such hate speech causes unrest among individuals or groups who feel victimized. Several theologians have responded to the issue of hate speech from the perspective of Christian Religious Education and ecclesiastical encyclicals. However, so far, no one has addressed it from a biblical perspective. Therefore, this paper seeks to examine Luke 6:27–36 to understand how Christians should respond to hate speech. To interpret Luke 6:27–36, the author employs a socio-redactional analysis. The results of this study indicate that Luke 6:27-36 contains a message that hate speech should not be responded to with hate speech, but with love that is manifested in good deeds, blessings, prayers, being generous, and acting as Christians want to others to do to Christians. Thus, the theological message of Luke 6:27-30 can be a theological reflection that can be applied by Christians today in responding to the rise of hate speech on the basis of religion in Indonesia thourgh social media.
2025-07-31T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Vasika Hananti; Parminta Nduruhttps://sttsriwijaya.ac.id/e-journal/index.php/mitra_sriwijaya/article/view/148Melampaui Prokreasi: “Keturunan Ilahi” (זֶרַע אֱלֹהִים) sebagai Telos Perjanjian Pernikahan dalam Maleakhi 2:13-162025-07-10T03:57:43+00:00Wennarwennar.fx@gmail.com
This study analyzes the controversial phrase “divine offspring” (זֶרַע אֱלֹהִים, zeraʿ ʾĕlōhîm) in Malachi 2:15. Contrary to the common interpretation that only understands it as the biological procreation of children, this study argues that “divine offspring” is the telos (theological ultimate goal) of the marriage covenant itself. Using exegetical methods that focus on the lexical-syntactic analysis and the literary-historical context of Malachi 2:13-16, this article shows that divorce and infidelity are not only seen as violations of the social contract, but as acts that fundamentally sabotage God’s purpose of creating a godly and faithful covenant community. Divorce, for Malachi, is violence (חָמָס, ḥāmās) that destroys the foundation on which the “divine seed”—the generation living in obedience to Yahweh—can be raised. Thus, as will be shown, the stability of faithful monogamous marriage is not an end in itself, but rather an essential prerequisite for the fulfillment of the larger divine mandate for the post-exilic people.
2025-07-31T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Wennarhttps://sttsriwijaya.ac.id/e-journal/index.php/mitra_sriwijaya/article/view/147Diskursus Kata “Membunuh” Dan “Menumpas” Dalam Ulangan 5:17; 7: 1-2: Humanisasi Atau Dehumanisasi2025-05-20T07:21:20+00:00Aeron Frior Sihombingaeronsihombing@gmail.com
The problem addressed in this study is the apparent conflict between the word תִּֿרְצָֽח (trəṣāḥ, “to murder”) in Deuteronomy 5:17 and the term חָרַם (ḥāram, “to utterly destroy”) in Deuteronomy 7:2. This tension constitutes the primary research question of this study: do these two terms contradict one another, thereby resulting in dehumanization? The objective of this paper is to examine the discourse between trəṣāḥ and ḥāram. The theoretical framework employed is ideology of the Deuteronomistic redactor, which emphasizes the promotion of humanity through the Torah's legal traditions. As part of this tradition, GKPI also faces similar challenges. The enrichment of pneumatological theology in GKPI can be pursued by enhancing the comprehensiveness of its dogma or improving the effectiveness of its communication to the congregation. This study aims to understand the position of GKPI’s pneumatological thought in relation to these two aspects. Using a qualitative method, the study found that GKPI possesses a comprehensive pneumatological dogma. However, a gap exists between the dogma and the liturgy in use, indicating an ineffective communication pattern. This gap constitutes a crucial point for the enrichment of GKPI’s pneumatological theology.
2025-07-31T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Martuani Sterne Siregar, Denni Boy Saragihhttps://sttsriwijaya.ac.id/e-journal/index.php/mitra_sriwijaya/article/view/140Suatu Repetisi Mengenai Implementasi Kejujuran, Kesetiaan Dan Integritas Terhadap Pembentukan Karakter: Studi Kata “'ĕ-mū-nāh” Dalam Amsal 12:17, 222025-02-27T03:16:06+00:00Aska Aprilano Pattinajaapattinaja@gmail.comFarel Yosua Sualangsualangfarel@gmail.com
In the book of Proverbs, the word "'ĕ-mū-nāh" appears only twice, namely Proverbs 12:17 and Proverbs 12:22. Interestingly, the word "'ĕ-mū-nāh" in this text is interpreted by scholars with different meanings, with Waltke translating it as "honesty," Fox seeing it as "commitment," Longman, interprets it as "loyalty," Ross sees it as "social justice," and Clifford translates it as "righteousness." The question becomes, what is the true meaning of this word? In its development, the meaning of this word is often translated generally based on the context of the verse, without paying attention to the specific elements of wisdom literature structure. Therefore, this study aims to examine the meaning of the word "'ĕ-mū-nāh" which actually refers to repetition or levels of character change. Based on the hermeneutic study method of the sub-genre of wisdom literature, this study found several meanings of the word "'ĕ-mū-nāh", namely: first, honesty; second, loyalty; and third, integrity. The implementation of this research is for every believer to repetition good character changes, starting from honesty to loyalty, from loyalty to integrity based on moral ethics according to the truth of God's Word.
2025-07-31T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Aska Aprilano Pattinaja, Farel Yosua Sualanghttps://sttsriwijaya.ac.id/e-journal/index.php/mitra_sriwijaya/article/view/138Fenomena Pengemis Virtual Di Tiktok Dikaji Dari Teori Etika Kekristenan, Pendidikan Karakter Dan Literasi Digital2025-02-27T03:11:40+00:00Ervino Jenrico Nicolas Wewengkangvinowewengkang@gmail.comGaby Juliana Kuwissygabykuwissy@gmail.comFrimsi Wohonwohonfrimsi@gmail.comYopi Baleona Tolegotolegoy@gmail.comFranty F Palempungfrantydelvin21@gmail.com
The phenomenon of virtual beggars on Tiktok has sparked debates in society, particularly regarding ethics, moral values, and digital literacy. This study examines the phenomenon from the perspectives of Christian Ethics, character education, and digital literacy. Using qualitative methods, a phenomenological approach, and literature review, the research explores how virtual beggars employ emotional narratives to attract viewers' attention and donations. Within Christian Ethics, such actions raise moral dilemmas as they may exploit empathy dishonestly. Simultaneously, character education is crucial in equipping young generations with strong moral values to critically evaluate actions. Digital literacy also plays a significant role in helping society recognize manipulative content and make informed decisions in digital interactions. This study underscores the need for a holistic approach that integrates ethics, character education, and digital literacy to address the negative impacts of this phenomenon while fostering a more empathetic, responsible, and ethical society in the digital era.
2025-07-31T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Ervino Jenrico Nicolas Wewengkang, Gaby Juliana Kuwissy, Frimsi Wohon, Yopi Baleona Tolego, Franty F Palempunghttps://sttsriwijaya.ac.id/e-journal/index.php/mitra_sriwijaya/article/view/139Perspektif Iman Kristen Terhadap Ritual Mangalap Tondi Budaya Batak2025-06-03T03:33:20+00:00Benget Parningotan Siregarsiregarbens@gmail.com
The Mangalap Tondi ritual is a traditional practice in Batak Toba culture that aims to recall a person’s soul (tondi) believed to be lost or weakened. This study seeks to analyze the ritual from a Christian faith perspective, employing a qualitative approach through theological, anthropological, and cultural literature review. As the majority of Batak people are now Christians, a tension has emerged between ancestral beliefs and Christian teachings. The findings reveal a complex dynamic between the Mangalap Tondi tradition and Christian faith, particularly concerning the concepts of spirit, the power of God, and salvation. This study highlights the importance of a contextual approach in engaging with local cultural practices without compromising the integrity of Christian faith. The findings are expected to contribute to the development of contextual theology within modern Batak society.
2025-07-31T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Benget Parningotan Siregarhttps://sttsriwijaya.ac.id/e-journal/index.php/mitra_sriwijaya/article/view/137Membangun Jembatan: Komunikasi Misi Kristen untuk Generasi Alfa2025-02-27T03:05:50+00:00Ferdinan Pasaribuanetrinpasaribu@gmail.com
There are challenges in communication of missions to Generation Alpha. This condition can be seen from various corruption cases that ensnare various circles in Indonesia. Corrupt perpetrators are not only workers who are squeezed by needs, but also economically well-established groups. Faced with this situation, it is important to find the root of the corruption problem that can raise public awareness. The public must be aware that corruption is very much eating away at the lives of the Indonesian people who are still trapped in poverty and enormous economic inequality. One of the thinkers who gave an overview of the phenomenon of corruption in Indonesia was Karl Marx. This paper aims to explore the relevance of Karl Marx's theory of alienation in analyzing the root causes of corruption in Indonesia. The research method used in this study is a qualitative approach with a literature study on Karl Marx's thoughts, especially Karl Marx's theory of Alienation. The results of this study show that the capitalist economic system that focuses on the pursuit of profit as much as possible contributes as much as possible as the cause of corruption in Indonesia. The capitalist economic system creates alienation from one's work and self. The power of money will give rise to greedy human character. In other words, Corruption based on Karl Marx's thought arose because of the capitalist economic system that was uncontrollable and created greedy human beings.
2025-07-31T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Eder Timanta Sitepu
